Follow these steps to install VR Motion, connect your VIVE Focus Vision headset, and configure your steering wheel and pedals on Windows 11.

Part 3 — VIVE Focus Vision & Wired Streaming Kit

D

Connect the Wired Streaming Kit to your PC

  • Plug the DisplayPort end of the converter into your PC’s DisplayPort output
  • Plug the USB-A end into a USB 3.0 port on your PC
  • Connect the power adapter to the converter and plug into mains — this keeps the headset battery charged
  • Connect the 5 m USB-C cable from the converter to your headset

E

Power on the headset

Press and hold the Power button (at the back of the headset) for 3 seconds. Follow the on-screen prompts to complete initial setup and pair your controllers.

F

Run the VIVE Hub setup guide

Open VIVE Hub on your PC. Click the gear icon (top right), then go to Setup Guide → Headset → VIVE Focus Vision. VIVE Hub will verify your GPU and DisplayPort connection and walk you through pairing.

Note: If the USB icon in VIVE Hub appears gray, unplug and replug the converter connections and ensure the power adapter is connected.

G

Select VIVE Streaming (DP mode) on the headset

Put on the headset. When the Choose USB mode dialog appears, select VIVE Streaming (DP mode) for the best visually lossless DisplayPort connection.

H

Run SteamVR Room Setup

Launch SteamVR. Click (≡) → Run Room Setup and choose your play mode:

  • Standing Only — for seated or stationary use (recommended for driving simulation)
  • Room-Scale — for full movement (requires at least 2 m × 1.5 m of clear space)

Part 4 — Steering Wheel, Pedals & Controller Setup

I

Connect your steering wheel and pedals

Plug your steering wheel and pedal unit into your PC via USB before launching VR Motion. If your wheel has a manufacturer driver, install it first:

  • Logitech — install Logitech G HUB
  • Thrustmaster — install Thrustmaster T.A.R.G.E.T. software
  • Fanatec — install Fanatec Driver
VR Motion uses the Rewired input system, which supports most USB steering wheels and pedal sets including Logitech, Thrustmaster, and Fanatec devices out of the box.

J

Launch VR Motion and open Vehicle Control

Start VR Motion. From the main screen, press F1 to open the Vehicle Control configuration screen. You will see columns for Actions, Keyboard, and Controller.

K

Assign your controller

Click Assign Controller at the top of the screen. Move your steering wheel or press any pedal — VR Motion will detect and assign it automatically. It will appear in the Assigned Controllers field.

L

Map the required inputs

Click the empty box next to each action in the Controller column, then move or press the corresponding input on your wheel or pedals. All four inputs below are required:

Action Map to Status
Vehicle steering axis Steering wheel rotation (full axis) ● Required
Vehicle accelerator axis Accelerator / throttle pedal ● Required
Vehicle brake axis Brake pedal ● Required
Gear Select Shifter paddle, button, or gear lever ● Required
Tip: If a pedal axis is inverted (full press reads 0 instead of 1), click Calibrate at the top of the screen to correct the axis range and direction.

M

Calibrate your inputs

Click Calibrate and follow the on-screen instructions. Move each axis through its full range — turn the wheel lock-to-lock and fully press and release each pedal. This ensures VR Motion reads 0–100% correctly for every input.

Confirm and save your configuration

Once all inputs are assigned and calibrated, click Done at the top left of the Vehicle Control screen, or press F5 to confirm. Your controller settings will be saved for future sessions.
