Step into the driver’s seat and participate in a realistic live VR driving experience that simulates performance driver training on a test track. Not just a game, the simulator provides physical feedback to the driver, while the software objectively evaluates driver data for performance and safety criteria, and compares it to other drivers at CES. The experience is created in partnership with VR Motion*, a leader in automotive VR training and simulation and powered by 8th Generation Intel® Core™ processor-based PCs with Intel® Optane™ technology to provide responsive experiences, utilizing Windows MR HMD.

Autonomous cars are coming, but there’s still going to be folks who need to learn how to drive. That’s why VR Motion is building a VR driver’s ED system to better prepare newbies for the roads.

At CES, the chip giant showcased partnerships with the NFL, the Winter Olympics and Paramount Pictures to (with the help of its True View tech) to create VR experiences that allow a scene to be viewed from almost any camera angle. And at its CES booth, Intel showed off a driver-training solution (it’s supplied by startup VR Motion, and relies on Intel silicon) that pairs a VR headset with simulator hardware.

My favorite (though I might be biased) was the VR Motion driver training simulator in the Intel booth. This company trains race car drivers, first responders, and police officers in a VR rig that looks like the best video game ever. It’s much more sophisticated- a physics simulator for emergency procedures- and will be rolling out with SkidCar this year.
